The
Northern England Falconry Club (or N. E. F. C for short) began in
the late 1960's with the purpose of providing a meeting place so
that local Falconers could exchange news, views and ideas. At that
time the London based national clubs did not fill this nitch and
therefore the club soon gathered "members".
It was
this original group that subsequently voted in a committee, and
decided the aim of the club and drafted it's rules. Whilst many of
the rules have either been scrapped or amended, the original aim
of the N. E. F. C was:- " to assist members to fly birds of prey
under natural conditions, to their natural quarry, in their
natural environment." This remains the same and we are unashamedly
a "Hunting Club".
In
the late 1980's the N. E. F. C was very active politically in
order to secure the best possible deal when registration of Hawks
became law and we can boast that we helped form the original Hawk
Board and have been represented on the board for many years. We
remain therefore politically aware and are prepared to defend
Falconry come what may.
The
club is a friendly club that welcomes all regardless of race,
gender or creed and you will find a high level of support,
experience and companionship for both the experienced Falconer or
the beginner. Our only restriction is that prospective members
should not have any convictions under the present laws effecting
our sport and the welfare of our Hawks.
